These are the steps we will take to refinish your hardwood floor.
Preparation
Once all furniture and area rugs have been removed, we will hammer down any protruding nails and ensure that all floorboards are firmly in place. We will cover your vents to prevent sanding dust from getting into your duct system, and then we will be ready to proceed.
Pull up shoe base moulding
This is the thin strip of moulding where the floor meets the wall. We will carefully remove it, ensuring that it remains intact.
Rough-sand the floor
Your floor will go through several rounds of sanding to remove scratches and stains. Our flooring experts use high quality tools and the highest grade of sandpaper. Dust is removed after each round of sanding.

Sand the edges and corners
It can be difficult to get into corners and small spaces with our sanding equipment, so we use a smaller sander for the borders and corners of the room, as well as small spaces like closets or steps. The sanding process is the same as it is for the previous step – the only difference is the machine used.
Buff and clean the floor
Buffing, or screen sanding, gets rid of the small scratches and minor unevenness that may have been left by the sanding equipment. Once this is done, we clean the floor thoroughly to get rid of any remaining dust.
Apply stain and finish
Finally, we apply a wood stain in any colour of your choice. Your options depend on the kind of wood your floor is made of: some woods are more porous, and stain more easily, meaning a wider range of colours is available. The final step is a coat of wood finish that will provide a protective barrier that will keep your floor looking good and lasting for many more years.
