Refinish or Replace? How to Tell

Most Toronto hardwood can be refinished several times before it ever needs replacing. Refinishing is usually far cheaper than a new floor and keeps the original character. Solid hardwood typically has 3 to 5 sandings of life in it, and even 1980s red oak strip flooring under old carpet is almost always worth saving. Refinishing makes sense when the boards are structurally sound but the surface is scratched, greyed, water-marked, or you simply want a different colour.
