Hardwood Flooring Installation & Refinishing Contractor in Oakville
LV Hardwood Flooring works extensively across Oakville — from heritage homes in Old Oakville and lakefront properties in Bronte to estate-scale builds in Glen Abbey, Joshua Creek and River Oaks. Oakville is the part of the GTA where pattern installations (herringbone, chevron, double-herringbone) and premium European oak are the default, not the exception. Our crews are direct employees, our quotes are written, and our pattern installers are trained specifically for the precision work this market expects.
Hardwood Flooring Services We Provide in Oakville
The Oakville flooring conversation is rarely about basic builder-grade product. It’s about wide planks, pattern layouts, custom stains and refined finishes — the kind of project that has a designer or architect involved and a homeowner who has spent time looking at samples.
European Oak Installation
Premium European white oak is the default species in Oakville installations — tighter grain than red oak, cooler tone, and the look most designers specify. We install both engineered and solid European oak in widths from 5″ to 9″.
Herringbone & Chevron Pattern Installation
The single most-requested pattern category in Oakville. Classic French herringbone, modern chevron, double-herringbone and Versailles parquet. Pattern work requires a flat subfloor, exact layout planning, and a slower installation pace than straight-lay — our pattern installers do this work full-time.
Wide-Plank Hardwood Installation
7″, 8″ and 9″ planks in European oak across main floors and second levels. Common in Glen Abbey, Joshua Creek and the newer River Oaks builds.
Hardwood Floor Refinishing
Refinishing of existing hardwood in Old Oakville heritage homes, mature Bronte properties and the established sections of Glen Abbey. Often paired with custom stain work to update the colour to a contemporary palette.
Stair Refinishing
Open foyer staircases in Oakville estate homes are a focal point. We refinish treads, risers and railings to match the main-floor stain, with custom paint detail on risers and balusters where the design calls for it.
Designer-Led Renovations
A large share of our Oakville work involves an interior designer or architect specifying the floor. We’re comfortable coordinating samples, lead times, trim transitions and on-site decisions with a design team — it’s how most of these projects run.
How We Work With Oakville Homeowners — Step by Step
- Step 1 — Call or send photos. Same-day response. For pattern work, send photos of the rooms and any existing samples or designer specs.
- Step 2 — Free in-home estimate. Usually within 2–4 days. We bring European oak samples, stain blocks and pattern layout examples.
- Step 3 — Written, itemised quote. Same day or next morning. Material, pattern layout labour, subfloor work and trim listed separately so you can see exactly what drives the price.
- Step 4 — Material acclimation & subfloor prep. 5–7 days for material acclimation. Wide-plank and pattern work both require a flat subfloor — we level before installation, not during.
- Step 5 — Installation or refinishing. Direct-employee crew, dust-controlled where sanding is involved, daily progress notes, designer/architect kept in the loop on critical decisions.
- Step 6 — Final walkthrough. Snag list resolved on the spot. Written workmanship warranty handed over.
Oakville Neighbourhoods We Serve
Old Oakville. Heritage and character homes south of the QEW, many close to the harbour. Refinishing dominates here — original hardwood under decades of finish that needs careful restoration. Where new installation is involved, herringbone and traditional patterns suit the architecture.
Bronte. Mix of mature 1960s–1980s detached homes and newer infill builds, plus lakefront condos. Standard refinishing and wide-plank installation, with the occasional waterfront condo project where humidity and subfloor moisture need extra attention.
Glen Abbey. Established upscale subdivisions from the 1980s onward, large homes, mature trees. Refinishing of original red oak and replacement with wider European oak are both common conversations here.
Joshua Creek. Premium 1990s–2010s family homes. Wide-plank installations replacing builder-grade flooring, plus pattern work in entryways and formal rooms.
River Oaks. 1990s–2000s family subdivisions. Mix of refinishing and full upgrades to wider plank or pattern installations.
West Oak Trails, Iroquois Ridge & College Park. Suburban family neighbourhoods. Standard installation and refinishing work across a wide price range.

What an Oakville Flooring Contractor Actually Needs to Know
Oakville projects are unusually demanding for installers. The pattern work, the wide planks, and the designer involvement all raise the bar — and they all expose contractors who are out of their depth.
Pattern work is not straight-lay work. Herringbone and chevron require a flat subfloor (within 3/16″ over 10 feet), exact layout from a centreline, and installers who know how to read the pattern as it builds. The most common pattern failures we’re called to fix are: bowing of the pattern across long runs (subfloor was uneven), and visible pattern misalignment at room transitions (no layout planning). Both come from contractors who installed pattern as if it were straight-lay.
European oak is not red oak. European white oak has tighter grain, cooler undertones and reacts to stain differently than the red oak common in older Ontario homes. A stain that reads “light natural” on European oak reads “washed pink” on red oak. We always do sample boards on the actual material before committing.
Designers expect coordination, not surprises. A good chunk of our Oakville work is for designer-led renovations. Designers expect their samples respected, lead times honoured, change-orders documented, and decisions made in writing. We work this way by default — it’s how the project stays on schedule.
Old Oakville heritage refinishing. Heritage homes south of the QEW often have original hardwood that’s been refinished multiple times. We check sanding allowance carefully before quoting — sometimes the right answer is a board-by-board repair and a screen-and-recoat instead of a full sanding. Saying so up front is the difference between a contractor and a salesman.
Lakefront moisture. Properties close to Lake Ontario carry slightly higher ambient humidity. We account for this in material acclimation and in board-gap allowance during installation. For background on hardwood selection, see our blog guide on multi-layer wood flooring.

Hiring a Hardwood Flooring Contractor in Oakville — FAQ
Do you install herringbone and chevron patterns?
Yes — pattern work is one of our core services in Oakville. We have installers trained specifically for herringbone, chevron and double-herringbone. Pattern installations require a flat subfloor and exact layout planning, both of which are included in our process.
Do you work with interior designers?
Yes. A large share of our Oakville projects are designer-led. We coordinate on samples, lead times, change orders and on-site decisions through the designer or directly with the homeowner — whichever the design team prefers.
Do you supply European oak?
Yes. We produce our own engineered European oak, which means clients can specify exact width (5″ to 9″), species, finish and stain without being limited to a manufacturer’s stock catalogue.
Can the original hardwood in my Old Oakville home be refinished?
Often yes, but it depends on how many times the floor has been sanded already. Heritage homes south of the QEW frequently have floors that have been refinished two or three times over the decades — we check remaining allowance carefully and recommend a screen-and-recoat or board-by-board repair if a full sanding isn’t advisable.
Are you a licensed and insured flooring contractor?
Yes. $2M general liability insurance and WSIB compliant. Same-day certificates of insurance available for HOAs, designers, builders or condo boards.
How long does a herringbone installation take?
Plan roughly 50–70% longer than a comparable straight-lay job. For a 1,000 sq ft herringbone main floor, allow 7–10 working days from material arrival to finished floor, depending on subfloor prep needs.
Do you give phone quotes?
No. Pattern, wide-plank and custom-stain work all require an in-home assessment to quote properly. Phone quotes for this kind of project are almost always wrong. The in-home estimate is free.
Do you serve all of Oakville?
Yes — Old Oakville, Bronte, Glen Abbey, Joshua Creek, River Oaks, West Oak Trails, Iroquois Ridge, College Park, Clearview, Eastlake and the rest of the town. We work across all of Halton Region.
