What a North York Flooring Contractor Actually Needs to Know
Original oak under everything. Most North York homes from 1960–1985 have 2.5″ or 3″ oak strip flooring — often hidden under wall-to-wall carpet that was installed in the 1970s and never removed. The first thing we do on any older North York home is lift a corner and check what’s underneath. The carpet pad and tack strips usually leave the hardwood in better condition than you’d expect.
